Claremont Blvd. & Russell St.

On this spot, starting in 2001, Berkeley began an innovative goal of reducing pedestrian accidents by offering flags to wave while crossing intersections. After a flag-waving pedestrian was hit barely two days into the program, 8,000 flags went missing, and only 2% of people using them, the project was shut down in 2004.
