On this spot, established in 1936 (or 1943? 1951?), a purported shadowy organization of some official capacity. Allegedly a science laboratory research facility according to neighbors. On January 18, 1973, in a fury of light and sound, a half-block of office buildings folded upon themselves, leaving behind a glowing vacant lot.
